Finds from last Saturday...

Went detecting some swimming areas in Maine last Saturday with Newtohunting - can you say BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR???? The wind was howling and even the little lakes we were on had whitecaps most of the day!!

The finds were sparse, but I think we found at least one place to come back to next year during the swimming season (do they have one of those in Maine??)

The bracelet with stones in it is .925 as is the stud earing (with what I'm sure is a fake diamond). No markings on the dangly earing or finer bracelet/necklace or the little star earing. Thought the "Mack" bulldog was kinda neat :)

Funny thing about the fine bracelet/necklace. I had gotten a decent signal and after one scoop started getting these funky signals all over the place! Couldn't pinpoint the target anymore and it seemed like it was moving dramatically. Finally had a feeling maybe my batteries were acting up or God forbid I had cracked my coil on something. Started walking out of the water to investigate and there wrapped up on my coil was the chain - first time that's ever happened to me.

Had a good time - cold, but fun.[attachment 38693 Maine1.jpg][attachment 38694 Maine2.jpg]

That was just ~10 minutes in the ultrasonic bath with water and some Mr. Clean. The ultrasonic does wonders to get out all the grime stuck in the crevices of jewelry. Only thing I'm always worried about is the sonic disruptions blasting loose a stone, but then again I haven't had anything with any real nice stones to worry too much about (hehe).

I'm working hard on finishing up the bathroom project - looks like I'll either be setting the tile Thursday or Friday night and grouting 48 hours or so later. Sunday still looks good to get together - give me a shout.

Looks like some decent size wave action coming over the weekend - not exactly the right wind direction, but still might cut some grooves out for you to hunt Saturday.

I gotta remember to take my camera along to take pics "out in the field" one of these days.

I agree, and so far Sunday looking mighty good. They are expecting some rain. Looks like I might get a little cut. Going straight to Hampton for low tide at around 7am. Hope to get a little gold or lot of gold. Sent you an email to your other email address. Let me know what you think.

I have a tiling job to do in my downstairs bathroom and I'm getting tight on a schedule as we have a new washer and dryer being delivered on Nov. 3rd. I'm not sure what to do yet, but I may stay up all night Friday night to get it done and skip out on working Saturday so I can go - still haven't decided.

Hate to miss out on the first good storm of the year though!!!

Hey Beach Hunter,

Yup! Heading out full blown come Sat morn for the low tide. Probably could not ask for a better low tide time. Hopefully it moves some sand. Prey it does.

SAT NIGHT OR SUN AM WILL BE THE PEAK TIME TO HUNT.YOU MAY JUST GET WET SAT AM. IT TAKES A HUGE STORM TO MOVE ANYTHING AT HAMPTON YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK ELSE WHERE FOR GOOD CUTS.

Gonna try Saturday night low tide if I can - it looks like the wind is supposed to shift late Sat night and Sunday to the opposite direction. Saturday morning looks like really heavy rains and I have a feeling as BH said, things will just be getting started.

We might want to rethink our plans for Sunday at least early in the day and hit the beach(es) first.

stay in touch.

Thanks Beach Hunter,

Paul and I just talked about it and I agree with you. Seems like the storm not hitting until mid Saturday and the night low would be much better. Hopefully it will kick up and move some sand.

Good Luck if you head out after storm.
