Finds from a large tractor turned feild : Pre Construction/

I noticed some work going on in a field near my house the other day. Friday and Saturday they were turning the ground and afterwards they ran a large roller drum over the fresh turned ground. The field has always been vacant and is part of a catholic school and church. It is used for parking when the fair comes to town once a year, but that has only been going on at this site for maybe 10 years. Before that I suspect it was a dump, given all the trash that is present.
I spent about 4 hours today using the 705 with the 9" 7.5 concentric coil, other than my HF DD coils that's all I have....No silver and only one wheat out of 14 quarters, 8 dimes, 2 nickels and 28 cents....the 55D wheat being in a, "Keep me and never go broke", good luck piece from Uncle Mike's Dinner in Uniondale, LI...Go Figure?!?!. Got some other oddities like a rusted pocket knife,3 keys, 89 Canadian dime, city bus token and miscellaneous hardware. Found several church tokens and a button, maybe from a priests clothing? I have found the tokens b4 but not as new looking or as many in one area. They usually look like an old penny and because they are so fresh looking, my thinking now is they were tossed out there to be turned into the ground b4 the foundation is poured for the new building that is to be constructed.....for this questionable reasoning on my part, I'm going to return them to the site. All in all it was a fun, interesting and different, compared to my usual beach hunts. Wish I had come up with some silver or an old class ring, but not complaining....Thanks for looking, GL All

the button is from a Blazer at St Andrews Golf Course in Scotland ... I have one too

Congrats on the semi-successful dirt fishin' trip Bob!

I've had days when a couple of wheats would have been welcome.

Just think of the good luck you will have next trip out after finding the encased wheat good luck token!

I really like that good luck token, I've found a couple in the past.

Did you get a lot of iron hits? I'm wondering if their might of been a house there at one time, but then again there is nothing all that old in your pic's except for the wheat token. I would hit it somemore if you can. look for a slit depression in the ground like where their might of been a house. If you do see a depression area I would work from that area out to the street, that would be the front yard area.

Good luck and let us know if you find anything else.

*Did not notice the button as being golf related till you put the ID to it Surf. Now I see the crossed clubs, instead of just the crown which led to my first notion as being church related Thanks!!

*Wheats, Indian heads and Silver are always on my mind when dirt hunting LH...But It's a near impossible thing around here these days unless your on private property it seems. But honestly, a wheat makes me smile anytime I find one.

*Hope your right Mapper....I'm going to clean it up and put it on my key ring. Maybe use it on a few scratch offs...lol

*Mark...I belong to a history group here and have researched this area b4. No houses, just two catholic schools, one for boys, one for girls from the early 50s, girls school was torn down years ago, and for the most part overgrown weeds and woods separating them. Most of the trash is old cans both whole and slaw. I don't think I will get a chance to detect there again. I'm pretty sure it's going to get fenced off and construction will begin this week.............. Thanks All

the button is fairly old too but I never could nail a time frame down on that style ... from the Worlds Oldest Golf Course
