Cool finds, not many of thoses bullets to be found here in MA. I'm sure if there are any out there they are few and far between. There are however lots of musket balls to be found. Ron :detecting:

That is a great Gardner and great finds too. I aint ever found one but will someday...d2

Scott: You know me "The Casing Kid". looks like it's a Ballard could you give me some dimensions and a firing pin impression close up. BTW nice finds.

Dave

great finds, scott, and glad to see you got out a couple of times. congrats on the nice bullets. that gardner is a hard one to find, and it's sweeeeet too. hh!

I have 2 similar casings that mic about the same but have different maker stamps and pin impressions. The one on the left I believe is a more modern UMC but the one I just found in the pic has a US stamp on it. Here's the dimensions on the casings.
.795x .322

Thanks Scott for the quick reply: Yes, on left Union Metallic Cartridge is "modern" and one on right is the raised US from United States Cartridge Company. They made cartridges from 1870 to 1880. Bet both are were made during this period.

Thanks
Dave.
