Nice digging, Scott. Is that a sabot for a Parrott shell? Looks like a sabot strap from a fired Parrott.

How thin is the ...for lack of better words.... the "non-tooth" side? Looks like it has two "teeth" that would have corrosponded with the base of the shell to prevent turning.

I have a 30-pdr brass Parrott sabot in my shop that has those teeth. Looks like you may have one as well. Those always ring off like a soft drink can!

Maybe it isn't. But looks like one. Still, looks like fun day out there!
