Happy New Year!
I finished 2011 with a couple unusual finds. I noticed an old abandoned house on my Meals - On - Wheels route a couple of years ago and since I have changed routes I haven't passed it for a while. Saturday, I was looking for some new ground to hunt and I discovered that that old house had been taken down and the ground had been cleared.
Whenever I hunt "new ground" I always take a fast walk around the area and check the surface conditions. There were quite a few bottle caps, wine screw caps and beer cans there so I selected my 4x6 coil. My first signal was the Mushroom Frog and when I rechecked the hole I found the 2 small frogs. I didn't realize that they were both sterling silver until the next morning when I rinsed them off and discovered the sterling marks. I also dug 5 wheat-cents, memorial cents, clad and 5 lbs. of copper. Most of my finds, though, were screw-caps hahaha. I guess that it's true: "If you want the cash , you've got to dig the trash"!
Happy New Year to you all and Happy Hunting!
