Finding Privy with metal detector???

kharrar

New member
Hi,

I am a privy digger here in Arizona and have dug about 100 privies. Some times with the ground being so hard is is difficult to probe even with my slam probe. Most privies I dig contain metal junk and I was wondering if any of you have found a privy using a metal detector? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Attached a picture of one of my finds.

All the best and keep on diggin. Karl

Kharrar you are certainly find some super stuff. I have always used a TR MD to find privies and dumps, My old Whites 6000-D will go silent from all the minerals when you go over it, When you lose the threshold sound over a large area that is your clue. I dug in New Orleans for 5 years back in the '70s, I was not aware that Prescott had such super stuff that you are finding!

Max,

Nice to meet you. Well Prescott has a lot left and have been digging Jerome and Flag and they have tons left.

Thanks for the great info on the TR unit; I will see if I can find a 6000-D to try to experiment with. If I am correct these are older units with no discrimination?

I have a friend that is digging the heck out of New Orleans and finds super stuff. Attached a picture of me diiging a pit on Whiskey Row before they cemented the alley on Montezuma.

Hope to meet you one day out in the field. Karl

I;m metal detecting a old farm,, I know there has to be a privy somewhere,, but dont have a clue where or even how to find it,, any sggestions and or ideas would be appreciated,,
Thanks

Well Karl, I didn't post to try to sell you one! BUT I have a Whites Coin master 5500/D in a hard case that is like new. It is so cherry that the loop doesn't have a scratch on the bottom of it. It is a Classic but since I am moving into a 33' motor home and have just bought a Minelab GP-4000 I need to get rid of it. It does have disc and all the other bells and whistles on it and it will find mineralized soil over a dump site. PM me if you are interested before I move it the my self stow place.
i am moving to Morristown next month to full time gold prospect and I will check out the bottle digging.
Thanks
