Can anyone tell me if the Fisher F 75 LTD would be suited to finding gold? small flakes , nuggets ect??
I would appreciate any info on the subject; Thanks

I use a standard F 75 for nugget hunting and it works great, IMO its better than the Gold Bug II. With the 6" eliptical coil it is almost as sensitive as the GBII with the 6" elip. and is deeper on larger nuggets. The LTD should work fine, altho the sens. may have to be lowered in mineralized ground.

Thanks AUDuke, good info.

The T2 (LTD) which is almost the same as the F75 LTD is the VLF machine of choice for gold nugget hunting in the Sudan. Look at the prices on E-Bay for the T2 LTD, as they were about $1,300 the last time I looked.

They both do not have Auto-GB Tracking, but their Grab GB operated with a trigger should work fine.

I just bought my F75 SE about two or so weeks ago. I had an F5 a couple years ago, but sold it and bought an Etrac. So far, I prefer the Etrac for coin hunting, but I just don't have enough time on the F75 to compare yet. What I can say is the machine found two small flakes, smaller than a match head, on the north yuba. I had the boost on, sensitivity all the way up, and discrimination around 12 or so with the 5" DD coil. I tried in JE and DE modes (mainly due to the machine chirping a lot), but boost does seem to give more depth on smaller targets (about 1-2" or so on such small flakes). Wish my buddy Frank was there I could have compared the F75 to his MXT with the bigfoot coil.

Figure if I can hit smaller than match head size flakes at 1-2", I should be able to hit a picker or nugget much deeper. I used the f75 after we had started clearing out an area to point me in the direction to dig. The two hits were not right next to bedrock, but about a foot or two away from it. I can't wait to get back there to strip the over burden and get some more detecting in!!!

Sounds good; I wonder if a guy could go all metal and crank it up and do even better if the noise didnt drive you nuts????

I have paid for my F75 Special Edition several times over with found gold nuggets. My Gold Bug 2 is better on the tiny stuff but for anything with size, say half gram or larger, the F75 Special Edition in all metal with Boost Process engaged is a great unit. I have to be honest, there are other detectors I could do as well with as far as depth, but what really wins me over is the F75 weight and balance. I can swing that machine for 12 or 14 hour days for a week or two straight and not cripple my arm, and as someone who once suffered from detector induced tendonitis that is serious stuff.

All metal beep digging is no problem but do be aware the F75, like many detectors, will call very deep or very small nuggets ferrous if you rely on that target id too much.
