Was beginning to think I had bought the most expensive clad and zinc finder on the planet. Hunted with Darrelld for 5 hours yesterday and couldn't find an oldie if my life depended on it. Told Darrell I would give it a week and then send it to the auction block! (It must of listened and decided to straighten it's ass up!) After 4 Explorers and 2 Etrac's changing settings or editing is challenging to say the least for this computer ignorant old fart. I have to thank Darrell for his patience, settings and daily cell phone calls to make adjustments for these finds, and they are from the hardest hit site that we and many others hammered to death. After several hunts with this machine I was beginning to have doubts but remembered my first hunts with an Explorer. I think with a little patience, settings and practice it will be fun summer. (A little rain would help too!)

Nice finds Jim, I think you have the machine that will get the job done. Congrats.

Hey Jim,
Glad I was there for the break through hunt. Finding anything old where you were hunting is a good thing. Congrats, looks like you are on your way with the new machine. Nice to meet you today.

Sweet looking coins there, the ctx is pretty simple to use once you use it for a while.

WTG Jim now that you have broke the ice the silver and the Indians will be jumping under your coil congrats. :twodetecting::minelab::thumbup:

Congrats on the recoveries Jim. And glad to see you hung in there during the early stages of your "learning curve". While some still refer to the CTX 3030 as "another E-TRAC", your analysis (and prior experience) states volumes to the contrary. Folks who jump into the CTX 3030, thinking all they have to do is duplicate someone else's "settings" (and have equal success), are likely setting themselves up for a long, trying summer. In regard to your comments "I think with a little patience, settings and practice it will be fun summer" I agree. It'll only get better. As you've learned, the only difference betweenn digging clad and finding the oldies is a simple matter of getting one under your coil. HH Randy
