Here in inland central FL finding silver isn't an easy thing. 100 years ago the population was sparse and not exactly flush with coins. It's also been hunted by locals and snowbirds since the invention of the hobby.

So this weekend out with a hunting buddy I finally hit a payoff. He had just hit a nice Buffalo Nickel on a signal he almost didn't dig as it was a very dicey one. As we moved on we were comparing iffy signals between machines. He hits what sounds like a good one with his AT-Pro and says "Check this one out, it sounds good!" Hit it with my E-Trac and it about took my ears off. I said "Sounds like silver to me." So he says "Why don't you go ahead and dig it."

2" down in sandy soil there was a 1903 O Barber Quarter! WooHoo! Happy dance time! Oh yeah!!!

It's pretty worn but still not terrible and we didn't scratch a thing digging it. I'll try and get a picture after work today.

Best thing is my hunting buddy was just as happy as we were. That's a good friend.

First silver I've found here.

It will stop you dead in your tracks from now on! The Minelab E-Trac is one AWESOME silver hunting machine!

Nice find on that Barber fellas, nice to see that kind of camaraderie among hunting buddies! Sounds like that spot has some potential for some more oldies - hunt it slow from different directions and maybe she'll give up some more:)

Oh, we'll be back there.......
