Okay...first I'll share a little background info on why it's a big deal to me and probable not to a single other person on this forum. I've been metal detecting for 15yrs now....I've had three machines during that time...white's, minelab, and now a garrett at-pro. In those 15yrs I have found thousands of clad coins...several pieces of silver jewelry... but I have NEVER found a silver coin! Granted I don't hunt a lot of old spots but when I do the oldest coins I've found have been wheat pennies. Today I drove 55 miles to a friend of mine from work . He had a field that the old santa-fe trail crossed. Spent about 2-3 hrs on his field...found nothing but some old square nails. He then suggested we go try his old country church, he said it's over a 100yrs old. I thought why not. We got there and after about 2 hrs I had found a memorial penny and he had found a quarter and another memorial. I was thinking to myself this was gonna be another long wasted trip. Just then I got a very faint high signal...it didn't register on the screen but since it was a nice high sound I thought I'd dig it anyways and find some more trash and call it a day. I dug down about 5" tried the pro pointer ...nothing...ran the at pro over the hole and got a strong 84 at about 10"....I dug some more and had a hole about to the top of my lesche when I saw the edge of it! It was a 1936 mercury dime!! I couldn't hardly believe it! 15yrs and finally a silver coin!!!...I don't have any way to post a picture...I was just sooooo happy I had to post this.
