Kellyco finally shipped it and this thursday I will be putting together a minelab explorer xs and I hope that I have a little warmer weather here in West Virginia to dig in by friday, cause I am going, then I can get on here and feel like a real memeber.lol..bet I have a lot of ? too.Well anyways I am excited and look forward to my new hobbie.I do hope this thing is as good as everyone claims.I willing to learn and read everything there is on this baby.Good thing I am a fast learner. These forums really help when people give their input.

The Explorer learning process:
1 Read manual
2 Hunt
3 Read "Mastering the Minelab Explorer" whetehr it's signed or not.
4 Hunt
5 Read Andy's book two more times.
6 Hunt
If this fails just follow rules 2, 4, and 6!
Have fun, Okie

Be patient with your explorer, It can have a long learning curve. Most of all go slow and have fun. Your right about these people they give great advice in the forums.
Good luck, Jamie

read and reread Mastering the Minelab Expolrer by Andy Sabish specially the area about setting the machine up to find what you are looking for good luck and stick with it

Don't get frustrated or discouraged with your Explorer. You have to be willing to take your time with it because there is a huge learning curve. I bought mine last May and definitely consider myself a newbie with it. As Jamie said, read Andy Sabisch's book on it. There's a lot of good info in there, but I've found a lot of tricks that aren't there (actually doing the opposite of what's in the book!) right here on these forums. There's guys on here who are virtuoso's with the Explorer and are more than happy to share their knowledge. If you can, hook up with someone who knows this machine and hunt with them a few times. Be patient and do your research for good sites and you'll amaze yourself. And always remember that no matter how much a detector costs or what is claimed of it, in the end it is only as good as the person swinging it.....Good Luck and Happy Hunting
