The buddy of mine that has the property in the mountains called today to see if I could help him find a boundery marker on his property. Of course I jumped at the chance to help out a good friend!! We only had an hour or so for digging because he brought a couple of ribeyes and some potatoe salad along, and we couldn't let them go to waste!!.
According to the plat, the pin was located by a large rock at the beginning of the road. The road is very, very old and is overgrown with trees and bushes, so much so that only a narrow trail was all I could hunt. Supposedly, the road is the first rode over the mountains from North Carolina and the first phone lines from NC to TN were strung along it. We never found the pin, thus we have another excuse to go back! I did manage to find a bone shaped dog tag with the name Buddy and an out of state phone number on it. Didn't see a date on it though. Also found a spark plug and various other pieces of junk.
Had a great time though and the steaks were delicious!!
