It was a solid +37 on the M6's meter and maybe 3 inches deep on a parks soccer field. The chain was found after I re-checked the hole and it was a faint whisper with the VID reading of only +4. Getting the chain out in one piece was a challenge for it was consumed within the grasps of grassroots that didn't want to give it up without a fight. I won.

Great find!!! Do you know the karat or the weight of the two pieces? Thanks for sharing. We love to see pics on here. At least I do.

Thanks guys! Sorry, I haven't a clue how much it weighs. Or any of the gold jewely i have found.

If you're curious, you could take it to your local Post Office and they would weight it for you if you don't have a scale at home. Very very nice finds!!!!

Does a silver dime weigh a tenth of an ounce? A quarter a fourth? Does a Morgan weigh 1 whole oz? Perhaps I can make my own with a tongue depressor and a pencil. :nerd:

Hi Dang,

Check out the pocket scale in this link to the Harbor Freight calalog.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93543

It seems to be pretty accurate. I weighed a silver round and it read a steady 1.00 troy ounce with only an occasional flash to 1.01 then immediately back to a steady 1.00. A silver dime read 2.5 grams with not even a flicker.

If you are interested in buying one and have a Harbor Freight store nearby, take a printout of the catalog page with you. I had a printout and the store sold it to me at the catalog price.

Good Hunting,
Bob
