Finally some silver and gold

Went out today to do a little hunting at a site I detect regularly but have found no silver. Well today I broke that streak a nice '51 Washington in the hole about 6 inches down. It made my day first silver coin with the GT. Had the 12x10 SEF on it just crawling along by a sidewalk I have detected many times and just got a signal I could not walk away from glad I didn't. The ring is from a beach hunt over the weekend. Really got the heart pumping when i saw that in the bottom of the scoop. It has eleven stones in it but I think it is filled. I'm assuming that is what 10k f means. Just doesn't feel heavy enough for gold. Anyone that can tell me anymore about the markings let me know. Found a lot of clad and a New York Yankees earring on the beach hunt the ring was the best of it. Thanks for looking Happy Hunting.

Nice finds! I'm not sure about the "F" thing so somebody will chime in I'm sure.

Can I ask, how you liking the depth, separation, stability, and how high you can ride sensitivity with the 12x10, and what coil are you comparing it to....10" Tornado?

Haven't had much time on the SEF yet but love it so far. Separation is excellent and seems to be more stable at increased sensitivity. Yes this is compared to the stock 10" tornado. The ground were I am is red in most places and I will lose threshold with minimal movement. The SEF does seem to help with that a little can't wait to put some more time on this coil.

Sounds like you are affirming what I and others have said about the 12x10. Handles rough ground better. Falses less. Increased sensitivity ability, and with excellent separation. If you are losing the threshold before turning down sensitivity (if that would even help in that soil) try slowing down your sweep speed more over the spot it just nulled at. If it continues to null then it's either iron or the soil there. Try dropping sensitivity more and if it doesn't go away it's probably iron or that soil.

The initials after 10K are "FG". This is the maker's mark for Frederick Goldman. His pieces are good stuff mate.....great show there! You can surely find his stuff all over the net on various sights.

Great finds !! that designer ring FG is worth some nice bucks the GT and a SEF good combo . Jim
