May be trivial for some of the field hunters here, but is my first. Was the most reasonable of many on the list to find, but finally found one. Noticed a field normally grown over, freshly plowed. Site Adj to a very old church in De. Hunted around the old structure a few times prior with no prevail. I believe that area has been pounded for several yrs, just because it looked do good. Anyway, rang in at 12-40, 5-6 inches. Wasn't expecting it and managed not to scratch it. Swing the 17" a total of 6 hrs with no weight assistance. Sore that night. Another 3-5 acres to hit yet! Dig those 12-40s in old areas!
HH, Mike

good for you! 1240 for a large that is unusual

Anyone think this coin should be cleaned up. Not knowing reales and value, dont know. Would look alot better!
Thx

whoops disregard my last post, 1240 is absolutely normal for that kind of coin..I was gasp, looking at it while in the car and somehow mistook the little picture I was seeing for a large cent.
I wouldn't clean it at all, besides a bit of water and light brushing. The coin is in beautiful condition as is!

That is a hot coin. 2 Reales are hard to come by. I think I would bring it up a tad so the silver shows a little bit but not shinny.
Congrats that's a top flight coin.

Congratulations Mike on finding a great coin and for finding a bucket list coin! If that's the most reasonable bucket list item for you to find I can't imagine what your tough items to find are but wish you luck in finding them!

Don

Larger Reales and gold coins. Also Silver cobb. The only reason I say reasonable bucket list is because I live in an old area and knew Reales should be an item I can find someday. Being realistic guy though, there are many early american coins I would love to snag too.

Todd, how do you suggest bringing it up a tad, without a dealer deeming it cleaned? I know your a Reale and Cobb guy! Do you have a list of 3030 numbers for all Reale denominations ? I suppose coin age would change numbers a bit. Thanks

That's something I don't have to worry about digging where I'm at that's a awesome piece of silver mcb613 great coin . sube

I use this product and I'll tell you why. If you use standard tarnish remover or dip you have very little control. With this you just tear off a little and slowly use it till you get the effect you want. It's very easy. IMO old silver coins look stupid all shinned up. This lets you bring it back a little.
