Finally my first gold with the 3030

I'd been digging in the rocks on an eroded beach, trying to learn this machine... beach has quite a bit of clad and pulltabs... After digging pulltabs for most of an hour, I had a really good idea what they sounded like and knew the familiar 12-15/16 numbers so when I got another 12-16 I almost walked away from it but wait, that one sounded a little different than the others.....hmmmm. Screen said 8" deep so I take out about 4" with rocks and the signal was still in the hole, another scoop and the signal was now in the pile.... I kicked the pile and saw a nice little yellow circle. The gold monkey is finally off my back with the CTX!
5 grams of 14k.....with ice.

Good luck out there everyone

That sure is a pretty one too Cliff........

That is a beautiful ring - well worth all the pull tabs I suspect???

Good looking ring!

You it got down, what a nice ring WTG. If you don't dig pulltabs you don't get the gold.

Agreed! I try to learn something different on each hunt, today it was don't just go by the readings on the screen, use your ear too! Funny, just yesterday on this same beach, I met another hunter with an Excal (my normal beach machine) I asked him if he would like to do a test between the two machines (something I wanted to do but was to lazy to carry two machines to the beach) He agreed, so I pull out a medium 14k band and tie it up to my test cord and put it about 8" down in the sand and let him go first..... He couldn't hit on that ring... and had a puzzled look. I look at his machine and he had the disc turned up enough to disc out pulltabs. I had him make some adjustments to sensativity and disc and then he hit it...... his next words were "No wonder I haven't found any gold for 3 months" His buddy suggested those settings and he hasn't made any changes to the machine in 3 months...I should have just kept my mouth shut... the CTX hit that ring nice at 8"

HH and GL all
