Finally made time to put a pigtail on my Compadre

Snipped the coil off my Compadre and using the female end I snipped off an extention cable, I put a pigtail on my Compadre. Just twisted together right now. I'll do the soldering tonight.

I have a need for the cleansweep coil and figured I'd try this first before buying another Golden.

With the wires twisted i got a little EMI feedback but a nickel tests pretty good on the Compadre/Cleansweep. I figure after soldering I'll get less feedback and if needed I can tweak the sensitivity if I have too. If if turns out like I want then I'll put the other end of the extention cable on the little 6" pancake coil I cut off of it and it can be used again. If it doesn't work out the way I want I'll just put it back together like it was and buy a machine for my coil.

Either way, I'll find out this weekend.

Anyone else running a Compadre with a Cleansweep coil?

Soldered her up last night and works and looks like a champ. The Cleansweep gets an accasional chirp ever so often in the house. Right now it gets about 7" on a nickel which is good enough for me for what I want it for. If i need to twitch it down just a hair I still got room. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to twitch it up a hair. I'll take it to the worse EMI spot I have this Sunday and find out which way I can go.

JB(MS), who recently passsed away, has a good write up on how to do this that was very helpful as the wire colors between the coil that was on the Compadre and the wire colors of the extention cable were different.

Fingers crossed for Sunday.

I have a cleansweep coil on my compadre and its the bee's knees, will kill it on sports fields. I leave my expensive detectors at home lots and use the compadre lots with this coil, it will hit 6" dimes loud and clear.

Spellman, I agree. I love using my Compadre on sports fields and around schools, parks. I can pin point with amazing accuracy, usually a 2-3" diameter plugs. Amazing setup, just want to experiment with different coils, since its been converted.:tesoro:

Got a link for that write up? Rock on with the Compadre/CSC!!!

I think it may be buried somewhere right here on the Tesoro forum.
