and I had time for a hunt this morning. I've been neglecting the Yeller Feller lately, and was getting tired of hearing the whining coming from his bag, so I loaded him in the car this morning and we headed for the soccer fields at the nearby park. He was so happy to get out of his bag and finally get to swing again that he rewarded me with a nice silver butterfly ring,a heavy copper bracelet and a nice assortment of clad. Here's the pic of the goodies YF found for me. I'm in the process of cleaning the bracelet. She's gonna be quite nice when I'm done. I'll post of pic of in and the ring later when I'm done polishing.[attachment 15165 satloot.jpg]

the ring and bracelet. Still need to work on the bracelet, but it's way better than when I found it.[attachment 15171 cleaned.jpg]

Nice finds. Looks like a great job cleaning too.

You had a great hunt! You must be treating that Yeller Feller with great respect, for he's always getting you some great finds! :)

Not a bizillion dollar ring, but what a difference after cleaning it.
What is the best method to clean rings? I'm a re-newby. had a White's Eagle years ago but came up missing in the garage along with some power tools. Should have a new 250 by this time next week.
Thanks Dave in Toledo, OH

I first give them a good scrubbing with an old toothbrush and some toothpaste, then a little Brasso and some old fashioned elbow grease. They shine like new again. Same thing for the copper bracelet but much more elbow grease was required. Man, that thing was nasty!!

Yer right!! After this pic, I was still less than happy, so I gave the bracelet a Tarn-X bath and then more polishing with Brasso. Darned near looks like gold now. You need to polish after using Tarn-X as it leaves the selected subject kinda dull looking.

Yeah Tarn-x ain't a polish, it just cleans the crud off. NEVER DULL is the best stuff to polish metal with. It would make a piece of pumice shine.
