Finally hit the old house in E. Texas!

I finally made it out to east Texas to hunt the old house I got permission for last fall! I didn't find a SINGLE coin amongst the trash! I found so many jar lids I couldn't belive it, bits of iron, nails, all kinds of stuff except coins. The ground is so trashy it's incredible! I bet it will take multiple cleanout trips before anything good will be found. It's a big ol' house as you'll see in the pics. Unfortunately a H U G E bois d'arc tree fell on the back part where the kitchen was and demolished that part of the house. Still, the porch remains with a raised deck and boxed in access for the well. You can see it in one of the pics, as well as a shot looking down the well. Man that water was far down there!

Finds today were a set of uniform buttons from what I think is a WWII dress uniform coat, a Girl Scout aluminum collapsible cup, an old coke can, some kind of lip balm tube and some neat bottles. No pics of finds just yet but I'll get 'em. I have house pics for y'all to chew on though..

I know there are some coins hiding there somewhere! I definitely need to hit it again before the weather warms too. It's very near a creek and there were several snakeskins I ran across. That reminds me! I was gonna buy a Taurus Judge and load it up with shotshells for exactly that purpose! Don't need many excuses to buy firearms...just money!

The place is 3hrs away so my trips will probably be few and far between. However I know I'll have another opportunity coming up next month! The place is owned by family and my mom has been wanting to go down for a visit anyway. At that time I'm going to work on just the front porch area and right around the outhouse. This time I detected the front porch area, explored the house, detected the path between the house and privy, detected the garden areas that still are apparent, looked for the bottle dump and searched for any old storm shelters. I also ran the most likely looking cache spots with a two box, explored the shed/barn, and examined another collapsed building of some sort. A lot in the 5 hours I had-I was tired afterwards! I also came to the conclusion that the house is probably not as old as I was originally told. It doesn't look like a mid 1800's house...I'm no expert but it seems like it might've been in worse shape. It really is a shame that tree took out the kitchen area. I sure wish I could've explored that a bit.

I'm not allowed to take guests so progress may be somewhat slow.

I agree with John... that porch looks like a good spot to find some coins.
It just kind of sticks out as a good place as soon as I saw the photo of it.
Keep at it and you will find some coins... with all of the trash there, then that would make me believe the site has not been hunted before.
Good luck,
Felix

I know it hasn't been hunted before unless somebody trespassed. This land has been owned for 40 years by the same person who doesn't let hardly anybody on thier land. That's a big plus! Only one person in the immediate family has been allowed to deer hunt and that was only once! I know the hunting would be GREAT there, and I also saw and had to drive through large areas where pigs had rooted the pasture. I did be sure to tell my uncle that hunting pigs is one of my 'specialties'! LOL...

Very cool spot....if possible, let me know when you go again, would love to give it a go!

I wish I could take somebody with me! I can only go by myself-very strict rules about that. I'll probably go back soon but I get busy and time starts creeping by...

It's there, I just need to hit one area at a time on the next trip. If I had picked one area to scour last time I bet I would've had something better. I'm just too curious and A.D.D. to go to a place like that for the first time without wanting to explore everything! LOL...
