Finally got some decent weather to get out with the Sovereign....

It finally cooled down some and I took off from work today to run some errands and
also got some time in with the Sovereign.
After seeing Jim (aka earthlypotluck ) making some nice finds lately, I got the itch to get out and see if I could find something worthy of posting. No super old coins, but I am satisfied with my results today.
I went to an old school and searched for about 4 hours and came up with a 1945 merc. dime, 5 wheaties dated 1946,1946,1948,1952, and 1957, and some newer coins.
I also found this small hem weight..never found one this small before.
I have found a few wheat pennies at this site before, but so far only found 4 silver coins including todays find (2 mercs and 2 rosie dimes ).
Surprisingly, most of the coins were found in areas where there was little trash and all the signals were nice and repeated from every direction. Probably the deepest was around 5 inches.
I'm sure this site has been searched before, but it still holds some goodies.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Great finds Felix!
I learned something else from you Felix - I found a hem weight just like yours just the other day. I didn't know what it was until you mentioned it here - Thanks! Nice silver Merc! it is always nice no matter what the denomination - it is wonderful to see silver come out of the ground. I am happy I motivated you with my finds to get out and do some detecting. :) I can't even imagine all the old coins that are still in the ground around the U.S. I read an article some time ago that stated there are more coins lost then in circulation! It just goes to show - no site is ever "hunted out" Glad you got out and did some dirt fishing. Just like water fishing, we can't always come home with a "lunker" Hope to see more finds / posts. - Jim

Most of the hem weights I have found are about the size of a quarter, but I guess after
finding this one that they came in different sizes.

Nice mercury disme, you know I have never found a silver coin in the town of cambridge where i hunt somtimes even in the old park so to see somone find silver at a school is really good probly somthing even better in that spot for you ,
