It warmed up to about 50 degrees and Brian was wanting to try his hand at hitting some golf balls. I bought him some plastic practice balls the other day but it had been too cold and messy for him to get out. I thought it would be a good way to get him motivated to walk.

He could only hit a couple dozen balls before he became too tired to stand so he and his buddy Garrett played for awhile with their Nerf guns. Brian needed his wheel chair because he was just too tired to use his walker. His legs are going to take awhile to get back into shape. So, I went in the house and brought out his Garrett Ace 250 to see if that would motivate him to walk. He tried, I held his left hand as he attempted to walk but he was still to weak. I gave him the detector and had him sweep out into the yard the best he could from his wheelchair hoping he would find a keeper. His one neat item he found was this metal rose bush tag.

This only lasted a few minutes and only frustrated him because of his limited reach, so off he and Garret went again to play some more and enjoy the warm sunshine before it got too cool. So, there was this Ace 250 looking so sad and forlorn just leaning against the house that I decided it deserved more time in the sun as well. After digging several pieces of aluminum siding and a few other whatzits I got a decent signal about 6" deep. It had the ominus sound of a large piece of junk, like a piece of iron pipe, but I dug it anyway. And sure enough, it was a large piece of cast iron in the form of an old toy tractor. At first I thought it was a pipe but when I saw the design on one of the wheels I figured it was worth pulling out of the ground. Here's a few pics of it. I forgot to measure it or use another item in the pic to help determine the scale but it was shot on the same surface as the rose tag so the pea gravel in the stepping stone will have to suffice. Just guessing, it is about 8 inches long and the wheels about 4 inches in diameter.

So, nothing exciting or worth bragging about but it felt good swinging again and listening to the sweet song of the Ace as it rang out with each detected target. One thing is for sure, I am really enjoying having Sundays off with the family.
I have you all in my prayers.
