All work and no play has made this boy dull
I tried the Platypus out for the first time yesterday and today and so far, I think it's pretty good. One thing I can say is it does not like the (salt) water; although I was only at the beach for a real short time. It's fine in the wet sand but once it gets wet it falses a lot. In dirt (what I bought it for) it works very well. I did manage to dig one fairly deep coin (8" to 10" range); a '44 wheat. What I felt good about was being able to pick it out of some iron and trash. The eliptical coil seems to be better at separating targets. After digging down some, I got a "peak" at it with the X-1. Dug a little further down and it just rang out between some trash / iron.
Anyway, no big finds, but it was sure nice to get out
This ring looked pretty good when I first dug it (although it was bent pretty bad) but it's junk...

And I managed some clad (I had about 6 more nickels; must have fallen out in the car) and 3 wheaties: two '44's and a '55. One of the nickels is stamped "81" whatever that means
