Finally got out with the 6" dd.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the 6" dd coil. Hunted a yard that was loaded with brass and copper plumbing parts, car parts, pieces of aluminum antenna, and you name it, it was in there. Had the 70 in 4 tone, sensitivity at 28, no discrimination. The machine was very stable. The plumbing parts would fool me once in awhile if they were small. Found some older clad, an old pendant off of a necklace, and 1906 IH at about 6" deep. I have hunted this yard with the standard coil on the 70 and also with the F-75, which is 4sale by the way. The 70 with the 6"dd is a great combo. if you hunt in these type of conditions.

I have a question. When in these type of conditions, with the 6" DD, do you just swing shorter? I guess you kinda wiggle through the trash? I am wondering because I am thinking of getting one for Christmas, Beale.

Thanks for the update, Kurt. My 6" DD coil should be here today and I got a few cellar holes lined up for the weekend. Did you go with auto or manual GB? I'm still not sure which is best, but in trashy spots like yours, I run manual so the metals don't throw off the GB. You did well plucking out those goodies in that difficult spot. Ron

Congrats on the IH cent.

Glad to hear the X-Terra 70 and 6-inch DD coil combination is working out for you. Those are tough hunting conditions. I know what you mean as many of the farmsites I hunt are the same way. Seems they just left everything laying where it dropped! I have one site that an entire aluminum TV antennae was mangled and scattered over the field. Those small bits of aluminum still fool me at times!!!

Just curious if you tried sizing the targets by using the Prospecting mode? It won't get them all, but it might help on some of those odd shaped copper plumbing parts. Especially if you tip the coin on it's "nose" and work with the audio just off the tip of the coil.

Sounds like you are doing well with the X-Terra. :clapping: Too bad about the F-75 though. oh well!

I did try using the prospecting mode to size a few targets. I used pinpoint mode most of the time. I need to practice the prospecting mode on a few known targets then I will give it another try.
