Well, I finally got out yesterday for about five hours. One of my buddies and I got together and hunted some old WW II houses. First off I was reading some of the posts about some Minelabs and the falsing problems and possibly a problem with their X-1 probes. Last time I was out with my XS I also was noticing more falsing than usual and it seemed like my cursor was in the upper right hand corner of my screen no matter what the target might have been. I thought well this isn't right so I went to Radio Shack and picked up a spray can of electronics cleaner. I took apart all my connections and sprayed the heck out of them and cleaned them up real good. Went to the factory preset mode and then bumped up everything and did a air test on some silver coins. I was picking up dimes at 12 inches and I don't recall ever picking up dimes at that depth doing air tests before. Ok, now to back to our hunt. I was using my SE Pro coil which I like very much and my old XS was working great. My first target was that nice sweet high pitched sound we all like to hear and I flipped over my plug and there she was a nice 19135 walking liberty half starring at me. My other finds were two rosie dimes dated 1946 and 1951, two mercs dated 42 and 43 and nine wheaties dated 1917, 41, 42, 48, 52, 53, 57, 58 and a 19??. Not sure if cleaning my connections helped, but it surely didn't hurt and if I could find what I did in about five hours every time I went out that would be great. I really didn't dig much clad and there is a ton of that stuff around these old houses. I was just listening for that high pitch tone and for whatever reason that high tone just seemed to be more clearer yesterday then it ever has. I stopped by a old school on the way home and picked up that nice 14kt gold chain and cross. This was my first serious hunt in about three months and I can't wait to get out again. I am out of shape though as my left butt cheek was sore as heck this morning from getting up and down digging my plugs. Thanks for looking and I hope our club hunt this Sat is just as productive if not better. HH.
