Finally got out and dug some coins.

I finally got out after a couple of months with no digging. I have been working a lot of overtime. I only hunted for about 1 hour and 45 minutes and dug two wheats a worn Canadian large cent and a bunch of other coins. I got tired of digging pennies every other foot so I stopped digging those signals. I will probably go back and dig them when I have more time. It was good to get out and dig some coins. I was using the digger coil. 19 to 21 sensitivity two and three tone. It seems like all the nickels I dig with the digger coil come in in the low forties. That is weird to me. This place was extremely trashy too.

So what is it with nickels using the digger coil. I just got the digger coil last week and have been playing with it a bit around the house. Tested various different coins with it and found nickels to id all over the place. I buried a few at different depths and had one that would bounce from 8 to 22 to 36/38. Even up to 40. I had all those numbers come up when xing over the same nickel. Checked all my settings to make sure I had everything set right. I removed the nickel to make sure there wasn't anything underneath it. Not sure what to think. All nickels I have found so far have been luck. The tones I get sound good so I dig them not thinking they are going to be a nickel. The only thing I can think of is its because my soil is highly mineralized. My ground balance numbers bounce from 6 all the way up to 30.

You might find this thread useful to help understand that coil and nickels.

Thanks. And thanks for the info on the coin too. I told my wife that it is rare to dig aarge cent and even rarer to dig a Canadian one in the U.S.

Nice finds glad you were able to get out and do some hunting.

I almost forgot.....Congratulations on the finds 7cw! :clapping:

As close to Canada as I am, I don't find many Canadian LC's, but oddly, I have found two 1844 Bank of Montreal half penny bank tokens.

That LC is pretty cool. Can't wait to get more experienced like many of you folks here. My trash piles are about four times the size of yours 7cw.

I like to see the trash piles. That is one thing that helped me on this forum. I thought I was digging to much trash until I seen others. The person who digs the most trash usually digs the most good stuff too. I was just being selective because that yard was loaded with trash.
