Finally Got My Flintlock Out Of The Shop

After several months and calling all over the country the gunsmith finally got a mainspring for the gun. Found it at Dixie Gun works in Tenn. This an 1838 R. Johnson Flintlock, 54 caliber. Marked U S and Middn, Conn. The gunsmith here in Petersburg did such a good job, I believe I could fire this thing. Hope you enjoy seeing a gun from my collection.

yeah, digger, that is one sweet lookin' flintlock! how often do we see one of those? almost never, unless you go to a museum. the 1838 date is very impressive too. definetly a keeper. thanks, and hh,

Nice flint lock.

I believe that it is safe to fire a good flint lock.

Few people do it any more. But 40 years ago
it was quite common for people to fire them.

I have fired weapons that old when I was a teen
and in a historical organization called the Sons
of Confederate Soldiers............. We did battle
reenactments during the Civil War Centennial.
That was in the 1960's

HH,

Very sweet looking pistol. Any collector would be proud to have that in his arsenal.
