Finally got home from the beach

I hit Hampton today. I stayed all day. It was sanded in but not as bad as last Sunday. I found a nice little spot rather low and found 56 coins @4.64, a toe ring, two old ear rings, crusty watch and a chain. I did well but could not get the coins out fast enough before the tide came back in. Not sure how that spot will be this weekend but I may try it again. I'll post a few pictures later. Thanks for the update Beach Hunter. Hopefully this weekend will be better.

Look at all those nickels and pull tabs. I dig it all.... That round crusty donut looking thing turned out to be a "pink slinky" watch.

Ya, that day was a long one but it's a great hobby. I like being out there. I was the only one out there that day as it was kind of cold out. There were quite a few out Sunday which is nice to see. Sometimes I get to say hi and meet others. I met a nice gentleman who hunts water and finds lots of rings. I know others who do the same.I think most rings are found in the water. Would you agree? I want to get a water detector next. I need to think about places to go. What water machine do you use? Do you hunt soft sandy areas without weeds? 30 degree fresh water hunting with moving ice is cold. You must be ready to end the fresh water season.

I suppose "real men" don't use wet suits, but it might be pretty nice if your out there for any length of time. I'm thinkin of maybe even some fishing waders with some nice warm boots or something. Heck, I don't know for sure, this is my first winter with my new Quatro, so I'll just play it by ear. Only bad thing is if the water gets inside the waders. Oh boy, wouldn't that be fun.:rolleyes::geek::(:|

I TRY TO AVOID THE WEEDED AREAS IN FRESH WATER ITS REALLY HARD TO PULL OUT TARGETS.I NOW USE A PAIR OF WADERS WITH 1,000 GRAM THINSOLATE LINING BOOTS ATACHED WITH 3 PLY NEOPREME THAT GOES UP TO ARM PITS VERY WARM!!!THEY LIST FOR ABOUT $200.OO IN CABELA'S CATALOG.I USE A WHITES BEACH HUNTER ID. ITS BEEN GREAT LONG BATT. LIFE!! CHEST MOUNTED YOU CAN SEE THE ID. LIGHTS EASY. IN THE WATER I HUNT IN ALL METAL AND DIG ALL TARGETS!! FOUND MANY GOOD TARGETS CLOSE TO IRON THAT I WOULD HAVE MISSED IF I SKIPPED DUE TO THE IRON READING!! I FIND SOME REALLY SMALL GOLD AND BROKEN GOLD RINGS EVEN!! WITH IT BEING WATER PROOF I CAN HUNT IN HEAVY RAIN NO PROBLEM!!DON'T LOOSE DETECTING DAYS!

Ed- I think you're the one I talked to at Hampton Beach Saturday about detecting in the water. These are some of the rings I have found. -D. Tyler

Hey Don,

Yes that was me. It was great talking with you. After seeing that picture I am really anxious to get a water detector. Beach Hunter says that he uses the Whites Beach Hunter ID. That is one of the ones I was thinking about getting. I saw one for sale on the classifieds. Looks like a great deal. I wish I had the money right now! Thanks for posting that picture. Good luck this winter.

Hi Ed and Beachhunter, I have dug up 74 of those rings this year. They all are from fresh water,Most were dug using excal, I also own CZ-20 and a Tiger Shark. Been Hunting for about 7 yrs. I have found so far this year over 100 pieces of gold this year,I have found over 130 rings plus a couple hundred gold earings plus gold chains. Ed take your time on picking water detector If you have the time this winter Go to A dealer who sells all the models of detectors and some small gold with you.Depends on fresh or salt water that can make a diff. on choice of detector Don Tyler
