I found a couple years ago wading in a local lake. Don't know how I missed the Schools web site before, maybe they didn't have one up? Anyway there is a alumni listed with the right initials and grad year so I emailed her. Will let you all know what happens. Its 10K with a green stone. I'll post a pic later.
HH, Tom

back and...drum roll please...
It's hers! They have a condo up here and spend a lot of time in the lake. She lost it the same year I found it.

I got to give one back last month. Only it was a state championship ring. I know she will be grateful to see it again. Get some pictures!

re-uniting an owner with their lost property.
Good Job Tom

I found some lost wedding rings before, & I know it feels good to be "the hero" Here's my one & only class ring story that has a neat twist One day in the 80's when the tide was way way out at the town beach, my dad pulls a nice big class ring outta the muck. The initials were HJS & it was from a town miles away. This, we found strange because it was a privite beach for residents only. Well, I was in high school at the time & began my first job washing dishes at a resturaunt. My co-worker was Harold J. Smith. Big deal right? Well, in coversation when he told me he had moved to our town from the far off town on the ring, I began to put 2 & 2 together. First I asked his middle name (strange question). Then, I asked if he had a class ring & he said "I DID, but it flew off my hand when I was playing frisbee @ the beach". So, the next day at work I brought the ring in & pulled it out.....he couldn't believe it! I didn't have my license yet so he drove me all over the place as my "reward"

Sounds like you got a lot of "mileage" out of that one. (groan) LOL
This one makes 6 class rings that I have returned and I have always gotten at least a thank you note from the owners. Only one of the six was returned in person the others were by mail.

& it's a funny story I always wanted to tell. I hope ya don't think I was stealing your glory with a story of my own I forgot to mention that the kid told me how he helplessly watched the ring fly into the water. Then he & his buddies went & bought skin divers masks, etc. to search for it till dark. Of course it buried itself and my dad found it a few years later after.....

Just got an email from the owner of the ring.
If you look at the pic (which is upside down)you can see an image under the stone. It's the schools mascot a Leprechaun.
I had no idea that was there.
Tom.

I see it now
