Finally found some beach gold! It's been a while.:detecting:

Hi All,

Well, after about a two year period of not finding any gold I finally found some gold! The last three trips produced gold in fact. Well, I found two pieces of gold over the last three trips and my father found one.

I did some research, low tech and high tech, and found two small beaches that I don't think get hit by detectorists or at least haven't been hit in a long, long time.

Pictures at the bottom. They look better if you click on them:

I found the bracelet and the ring with the stone. My father found the wedding band. The wedding band and the bracelet are both 18K. The ring with the stone has a weird decimal stamp. It looks like 230 but it could be 830, neither one makes much sense though for a karat rating. 230=5.54K by my calculation for instance.

In the second picture the stamp inside the ring is more visible. Anyone have any ideas? I showed the ring to a jeweler who took a quick look and declared the stone to be a "white sapphire". He shrugged when I asked him about the gold karat rating.

The bracelet must have belonged to a small girl because it's a very small diameter. It has a spring mechanism so it can be expanded to slip past the hand then close around the wrist. Interesting. The little gold ball is a small bell.

(I wish I knew how to put the pics inside the post instead of them all being down at the bottom)

Beach #1 produced both rings. Beach #2 produced the bracelet. Notice my junk to gold ratio at beach #2.

My father found the round brass thing. It came from beach #2. I think there must be some old stuff there.

Thanks for looking at the pics. I'm glad I could finally contribute some to the board. The bracelet was found yesterday and the rings were found last week.

Both beaches are small, "pocket" beaches. My father and I want to work them over some more before we share their locations. The beaches are about a mile from each other.

You both did well in finding quality finds.
Should be more there to find. Congrats !!!

I have hopes of finding more gold at both beaches. The second beach looks like it might have some real potential for old silver coins too based on the age of the brass and bronze junk we pulled there.

Thanks too for your insights on the Cibola mods.

BTW, I found the ring with the stone with my stock Cibola and stock coil. The other two gold items were found with Excaliburs.

Cheers,

My father and I had become a little discouraged after such a long gold drought.

Now that we found some gold we're keen to be more aggressive with our hunting this season. Heck, it's still just January and we're off to a good start.

We both had the same reaction with each of the pieces we found when they showed up in the scoop. "Gotta be fake!". It sure was nice to find out they were real.

Cheers,

Gotta love finding the gold, great finds!!
