Finally...first silver ring for 2013 and it is a beauty!

I have found some gold so far this year, some silver necklaces and a couple of other pieces of silver, too, but I am way behind on my silver ring finds so far this year.
Not one.

That changed yesterday when I found a great small but very old park that had a large basketball court, which is my favorite type of site to hunt.
Yea, there was tons of tabs, can slaw, pop tops and screw on tops of all kinds, but among the trash there is usually some great jewelry, too, and on one of my last signals of the day I finally scored that silver ring.

Huge, size 11, 8.8 grams and fits me just right.

If I had to wait this long to find my first silver ring for the year this is exactly the kind of target worth waiting for.

The dam has broken...more to come, I hope!

Very nice!! Which machine were you swinging and where did you find it (under the rim areas or on the side?Depth? Just curious!

Actually, I hit this site twice in one day.
I went there and hunted for about 90 minutes and found a ton of clad, ($6.00 worth), and a couple of toys plus some junk jewelry, then I went to my MD club meeting which was being held at another park about a mile away from this one.
After the meeting I returned and hunted close to the courts again, within about 10 feet, but still didn't find any good jewelry.
I was walking back to the car and right at the edge of the grass next to the parking lot I got this high tone signal that was a 78 on the F2 but was large can slaw for me all day long at these high 70 numbers.
This was one of the last targets I had the energy to dig and even though it was those can slaw numbers it was much smaller than that kind of trash according to my Propointer so I dug it.
Glad I did.

There was a huge amount of high tone trash but also a ton of high tone coins.
I bet most hunters stayed away from this site because of all the trash, but this type of area is right up my alley.
I love trashy sites because I have the patience to work them, dig the trash to get it out of the way and find what else is there.
There is probably a zillion signals left to dig here so I will return.

Here is a pic of the site, the red mark is where I found it, and also all the stuff I found next to the court on my first trip in the morning.
I bet somebody put this in a pocket of a coat and dropped it as they were walking back to their car after playing...or something like that.

Within just the last year I have found 4 gold rings and some large silver necklaces around these sites on the sides where the players usually sit and take breaks or pile their coats and stuff, and I found one gold bracelet right behind one goal, also.
Hunt all around these even behind fences.
I have found that sometimes the courts were there long before any fences are put up.

Yeah way to go Man! :clapping: I've been spending some time hunting those BB court areas thanks to you...its just a matter of time, lots of junk and chatter for sure!

That is a great ring for sure.Great advice on the BB courts as well. Thanks for the knowledge. I know where 2 or 3 are in my area too. HH:drool:

Thanks for the detailed update, I like to search in those areas near parking lots, you can picture people tired after games fumbling for keys in pockets to prepare for loading the car and possibly expelling a few other goodies out. I haven't had much luck around the basketball courts here in AZ most off them have hard packed dirt around them or concrete :( but I do find a few. I too don't get too bothered of digging the trash, it does get frustrating after a while but after I change location for a bit, my mind is reset lol. Again great finds!

Wow! Nice one. That baby's just short of needing a hand truck for transport.
