Finally Ended My Silver Drought!

MNetrac

New member
I have been hunting the same spots without results (except for a TON of wheaties) for the past week weeks and they haven't been yielding silver so I decided to try a few different parks this weekend...and I am glad I did. Ended up with 4 silver dimes and one of them is a 1909 O barber in awesome condition.

The bad news is that when rinsing off my coins I dropped one of the rosies down the drain! I took apart the drain under the sink and it wasn't there. I am just thankful it wasn't one of the barbers! Going fowarard I will need to be more careful.

Also found some tokens and jewlery. Got a bunch of the finds on video and put some pictures below also. I wish the dime pictures weren't so blurry - it is a full liberty dime and probably the best condition silver coin I have dug.

If anyone knows what the tokens are from please let me know - I have no clue what they are.

Very nice finds!! The easy way to keep the pic nice and sharp is to take the pic a little farther away and then crop it with just the coin in the pic. I use a free program called irfanview, it will allow you to crop and set the size you want it when you save it. If you drop anymore down the drain and you have the normal plastic pipe just get your pinpointer out to make sure its in the bend below the sink. That way you won't have to tear it apart and be even more discouraged. I too wash mine off at the bathroom sink and never close the drain. I always think to myself the what if, someday the what if will happen because I don't take the precaution of closing the drain.

Congrats on the 1909 O barber. One of the nicest I've seen come out of the ground. Get yourself a drain screen. It's saved me I do not know how many times.

Congrats on breaking the drought! That is a sweet barber. I just broke a long drought last sunday with an 1854 seated dime, but I am afraid Ihave started another one as I have hunted some old homes this week and only got wheaties and clad. I wish you continued luck with finding silver.

Great Finds:thumbup:

Enjoyed your Video

Worth investing in a Loop, they are not expensive and work great for small writings on Finds

Good idea. I have macro mode on but it just doesn't work as well as I want it to.

Way to go on the finds. Thanks for the pictures.
