Finally down to the good stuff!!

I'm in Southern California, San Pedro to be exact. I've been working one of my local parks for about a year now, cleaning up all the upper layers of garbage, getting clad and the odd wheatie. And then this morning I finally broke through to the good stuff!

Found a 1942 Mercury in perfect condition and a 191? Barber dime, has slight flaw so I can't see the exact year. I'll upload pics when I get home.

I'm persistent, I knew there was good stuff there due to the wheaties. My 6" on my CTX is such a beautiful piece of equipment, it's my go to coil for pretty much everywhere around here due to the amount of trash in Los Angeles that infests our parks and beaches.

Dedication right there.. Good job breaking through... How are your plugs holding up considering the drought you guys have out there?

What was the depth you found the dimes at because there are other ways to hunt the 6 inch coil deeper .
Using pinpoint lock in sizing and target trace watching the screen you well find all the targets using this .Then by watching the screen you can determine if it's deep or not depending on the depth of the dimes you have found .
Then by looking at target trace you can determine what to dig or not . The screen well have to be reset a lot if you have many targets because it well load up but pushing the pinpoint lock button well clear it so you can start with a fresh screen . sube

Subs, they were at about 6-7" down. I'll give that a try sometime in the next few days. I've got a 6 month old son at home so it's really hard to find time to go out and detect, I have to wait til they fall asleep usually and it's a pain to detect in the dark. I'll try it this week though and report back :)

On a different note, I sprung for the 10x5 coiltek, it's getting delivered tomorrow. I really want to try it at my trash park, I call it The Pit, it kinda reminds me of a pit. Anyway, I'm interested to see how it does with separation and how good it is at seeing underneath that layer of crap. That's the other thing, it's really hard for me to use discrimination at this park. I pretty much just have to run it open and pay attention to the faint sounds and stare at the screen, it's a definite process! Sometimes I feel like I'm digging in a landfill, it's that bad. I'll get a pic.

So, I'll let you know how that works for me, Sube, and I'll report back to everyone about the coiltek as it seems like there isn't too too much floating around out there for it yet.
