Finally broke the gold cherry with the Excal!

Found this HONKER of a ring (7.3 grams) just above the rough surf. Marked with a Soviet hallmark, 583, next to a star with a hammer & sickle. 14K!

If this one was any shallower it would have been found by someone looking for sea shells!

Hi Neil,
very nice
and worth about $235 todays Aussie dollars
Congrats on your golden pick up

That's a real nice find.........

You might want to hit that exact same spot again - sometimes beaches have some real nice habits.... I have a 10 mile beach and all the gold rings found in wet sand the over the years have come from one spot no bigger than a beach towel....

Hope you get another soon...

It's not always easy for me. I live an hour ++ away from the nearest ocean beaches. ( I know that many of you are a lot further than that!).

I do have a few dried up lake bottoms that I have hit with my V3i. One area is under the site of a diving platform and is no bigger than a beach towel, I have found many old pieces of jewelry and lots of Barber coins there!

HAha you know better than to ask that question in a forum...not that it matters much with beach hunting. It was one of the central Jersey beaches off near Belmar.

Great finds there,i found one like that in the dry sand a few months ago, But last time we went out my husband found a Tiffany ring it was on the net for 227 British pounds in Australian it works out at $357 i have to get it posted in the Forum tonight.

Cheers Maureen.
