Finally after 6 months of hard work on the beach I found my first gold ring.

It gave a nice low tone on the GT.

A also found a silver ring and a junk earring together with several Euro coins.

Good job. It's hard to put a finger on it but you can "tell" that a gold ring sounds smoother/softer/round compared to junk targets that read in the same range.

God rings are getting hard to find , because of the high gold prices , lots more people looking . so you did really good . Congradulations

I live in The Netherlands, and I'm searching on the Northsea beaches. Lots of people on our beaches in the summer, but last year we had an extremely bad summer so not much was lost.

Lots of people are metal detecting but most of them use a 1 frequency detector, the same one they use on land. Beaches are not highly mineralised but 1 frequency detectors have a hard time on the wet sand here too.

Most land finds here range between the Roman period and the 17th century which was called the Golden Century here in The Netherlands. The Dutch were earning lots of money with spices they bought in the East Indies.

I enclosed a webside with some webcams so you have an impression how our beaches look like.

Local time difference is around 8 hours later compared with the USA.

Thanks,

Congrats on the gold ring!

My friend who regularly water hunts Lake Erie said he's finding more non-gold rings over the last few years. He believes many people have scrapped their gold rings for the money and that people aren't buying as many gold rings these days due to the cost.

Yes that is the same thing I'm seeing over here. People also take much better care of their golden jewelery. They use to take their jewelery on to the beach and into the water, but now they leave their jewelery at home before they come to the beach.

I also see a trend over here that golden jewelery is not as popular as it used to be. People are wearing more junk jewelery like those chains with those fancy beats on them.
