Finally..a "V" Nickel!!!!!

Well-known member
I started the year with a "wish list" of coins I have never found, Barber( anything), IH cent, seated (anything), and a "V" nickel. first I found my IH penny, next came the seated quarter, and now the "V" nickel! so I just have to find a Barber now.

so the weather clears alittle today, I grab the E-trac and head a few doors down to the old farmhouse I obtained permission to hunt...but the farmers wife said NO to around the house but I can MD the woods and fields. I have already found my IH and 1831 LC there. so I swing while walking and while not quite to the woods I get a nice 11-13 12-13 and out pops the buffalo! my third of the year so far. now I'm excited and get into the WET woods not to far in and I get a 12-44 I dig and there is the wheat this puts me over 90 wheats in the last two months. then I spend the next hour and a half digging trash...foil, rusty nails, even part of a babyspoon. so I'm almost ready to pack it in and wlak along the edge of the fields where it meets the woods...12-12 11-13 12-13 so I dig down about 8 inches and couldn't figure out what it was at first, it was so dark and had a piece of something stuck to the back...wiped it a few times and saw the "V" and the date 1912 :bouncy:

Better check that baby for a mint mark.........the year 1912 was the only V's that were minted at all three mints. Hawkeye Jim.
