Been lurking for sometime reading and learning from everyone about the CTX. Its time for a first post.
I ran into a old rancher friend (87 years old) one day while I was searching for a place to swing my coil. I told him I was looking for a place to metal detect today. He looked at me with a strange look and said whats that, I pulled out my detector to show him, told him I like looking for old relics, tokens, buttons, coins etc. He says Coins huh well he told me a story of him finding a late 1800s quarter in his pasture field laying on top of the ground about 10+ years ago. He says you should come hunt my field. I met him at his house, he walked me to the area where he had picked up the coin. A hour into the hunt and a few relics later I get a big hit at 4"s. Cut my plug, flipped it over, then my heart started pounding after seeing the imprint of the coin on the bottom of the plug. Stuck my pro find in the hole then this beauty showed herself. I fell over and could not believe what I found after reading the date. My oldest coin to date. Later the rancher showed me the coin he had picked up it was a 1886 seated dime not a quarter. I've been trying to buy the dime from him to keep them together for my collection. Sure would love to keep them together. Hope you enjoy.
