After digging hundreds of buttons this spring, and seeing a nice US belt plate being dug, I got my revenge yesterday. I set goals for every year and this years goal was 100 eagle buttons and four plates. Well, I did not think I'd do it, but passed the 300 button mark yesterday. I have my goals set for 4 plates this year and have managed 1 Us box plate, 1 CS wreath, 1 drummers buckle plate and 1 Breast plate. Don't think the CS wreath counts as one..but I'll take it.

Thanks for viewing.

Nice finds John......isn't it awesome to pull something the nice from the ground that hasn't been seen or touched by human eyes or hands in well ove 120 years? WTG my friend. :clapping:

Anything CS counts as a great find, and maybe you'll find the tongue this year. Congrats on making some great finds. Keep us posted on your digs, this is fun just seeing your pics. Good hunting, David@Dixie

Wow John, I'm impressed with your eagle relics. They look great! You're obviously onto a great site for detecting. And over 300 buttons to boot. I love my buttons, but don't come close to that amount. Got a long way to catch up to you. Well done John. It's nice to have a goal for finds in detecting, and be able to reach it. I'm stiil dreaming of the elusive gold soveriegn, as I've mentioned in some of my posts. My hubby has bet me in the silver coin department!

Was hear years ago...to have a spouse that shares the hobby with you would be my ultimate goal. Mine will go detect a bit here and there, but does not have the passion. A gold sov. coin is a heck of a goal..need to hunt where they are though and they are nowhere near where I am. :(

Hello John,
over four years ago I had the ground spiked by my hubby, without my knowledge of course, then he sent me on my way around the back yard with an old detector in hand (a whites goldmaster), and after spending a day digging up rusty objects and a hoard of nails, he told me to try around the old water tanks. I did and detected 2 pennies! Months later he told me he planted them there. But it worked! Reckons he's created a Frankenstein in detecting. But I don't think so. I really have a passion for it, and as I say, still looking for the elusive sovereign. But I've found a whole array of relics and older coins dating in the 1800's, and get a lot of satisfacton from it. Always wanted to be an archeologist or geologist, well now I can fullfill both dreams through detecting!!!
