Finally....a Nice hunt :twodetecting:

On Sat. I was babysitting the 9 yr. old boy who was in the SunRay coil pics.
His attention span is a little short for detecting, although we did try some dirt piles with his Bounty 3300 he got from "buttonDigger" Tex, The original Button daddy :)
Nearby was a place where we have found some plant fossils & the little guy wanted to check that out. Again, attention span didn't last more than a 1/2 hour, but enough time to split open a big rock to find a it loaded with ferns & other plants! :buds: We were both excited...

Then Sunday afternoon it was my day to swing the coil. :detecting:
I used he T2 again as I'm working on 2 things...all metal mode, & another disc setting I got from NASA Tom.
I skipped around one of my sites & found pretty much nothing but 20-30's tones (iron). Then finally an 88 locked in. I hoped coin, & sure enough a beat up copper came out. Cool.
I decided to try the disc setting for thick iron, & ventured along the square nail loaded house foundation. Even with the big coil I began to get solid signals sneak in around the chatter...
a mid rang signal I figured to be a button was alot better....
A 1799 Silver Spanish 1/2 reale! :yo:

I can't recall one since the Edge field testing....glad to see it for sure. Also nice, as some folks doubt higher frequency units can't find silver. Well, I hit this & a tiny 3 center with the T2 so far, & Scott-Me hit 2 of these Reales recently as well on his pounded field. The sensitivity of the T2 seems to compensate well to all tiny items.
Here's the 2 coins right out of the soil...

As I admired the Reale, my cell phone rang & it was Bill Henderson. I told him what I was holding, & then I asked if he wanted to join me. I wanted to try another field where I'd just got a new permission on. He said, Yes, & I drove aways to meet him & his twin "cover boys"....
We hunted the spot for awhile, & saw black glass...great sign. We began to get a Colonial musketball here & there....
Then Bill stuck something solid & called me over.....
As soon as I saw this...I knew what he had.

He was digging around his first cannonball! His turn to be pumped
Even though we only hunted for a few hours total we had a weekend we'll all never forget for various reasons.
We were glad we were able to capture much of it with pictures.
Here's the rest of the finds.

Musketballs, iron strap buckle, shoe buckle pins....Colonial goodies & a great weekend all around :)

Thanks for looking,
Bill

Those are some awesome finds! I would post up all my finds for the weekend but I'm saving myself for DIV VI! Congratulations to you all!

Fantastic finds and story Bill,

Thanks for sharing your day with us, You guys did good!

Amazing how the T-2 still manages to get silver and copper coins even though it has a slightly higher kHz, Surely going to be a detector hard to beat.

Congrats,
Paul (Ca)

and great finds! I don't remember seeing that 3 cent silver you mentioned. Are you sure you didn't find it with the ID Edge. Just kiddin ya!

Tom

inside "pins" part. Probably late 1700's. I find the outside frames all the time & try to make a "marrage" by seeing if those fit to make the complete shoe buckle.....
I'm at work, but I'll see if I can dig out a picture of a complete one for ya. Hey, here we go.....
This photo is from my "shoe buckle Inn" & shows complete ones.
One of my favorite Colonial relics to find...
HH,
Bill
PS. the lined frame in the upper left is also a shoe buckle frame....the smaller one at the bottom is a knee buckle.

Guess I'll have to try and find the rest of it . Most of the cellar-Holes close to my house were hit pretty hard over the years .But it seems most people worked close to the Foundations . I Find most of my stuff 15 to 25 yards out .
Thanks again
Dennis

Hi Bill! Way to go on the Spanish Reale and your other finds from the colonial sites you hunted. I'd wager there's lots more in there waiting for your detector.

Congratulations on a great hunt and some nice finds. :bouncy:

Best Regards and Happy Hunting.
