The weather has finally took a turn for the better and almost all the snow is melted.
It is 56* as I type this so, it was around 50* around noon.
This afternoon me and my hunting bud decided it was time to get out. We headed to a ole standby place I call he 100 acre woods.
The ground was soft in a few places but, frozen solid still at most others.
Figures my digs seemed to all come in the hard areas.
My first real good signal turned out to be an 1889 IH but, sadly chiseling it out left a gouge in her.
The I dug a few nickels and then got a really deep ornate flat button.
My buddy dug a really nice 19s wheat. We did not dig much junk as due to the harder digging we only went after the better hits.
The first picture shows just a touch of snow left on the ground then the others are todays finds. The close up shows how I managed to gouge the crap out of my IH.
Thanks for looking and I hope everyone is also able to get out and hunt soon.

Nice finds, Mike. I tried to go out this morning, but there was still too much snow. I thought the south-facing hills might be open, but no luck. Snow should be gone here by Thursday with the warm temps and rain tomorrow.

super.. great stretch of weather in midwest. I've had a few scratches along the way too. One very expensive. I managed a sand tot lot and scored a few coins saturday. pics wouldnt load, file too big. Went to a local beach today but the gate was closed so tried my yard and sure nuff frozen solid past 2" .. hoping by end of week for soft ground.

Every spring when I first try to get out detecting I get wonderful text book screaming silver signals in places where the ground is frozen. Too frozen to dig. For some reason seldom get back later in the year to recheck.

Nice digs Mike but i wthink we all have hit a target or two :sadwalk: but look on the bright side your out digging :clapping: up here in Maine we are still burried from winter and more coming :(

Nice!! I have been waiting for this good weather! May hit a farm field in a day or two. My legs still are not the best so my walking is limited yet.

Great Mike! I'd be happy just to get out at all! Gonna take a couple weeks of melting to get rid of all the snow in Ct. I've even been trying to get to the beach as an alternative but the tides and weather have been working against me. lol
Frustrating thing is that I have standing permission on two properties that I haven't been able to get to yet.

Most of the snow is melted here to but the ground is frozen maybe in a cuple weeks we will back swinging again congrats on your finds Mike...:beers:

Yes, this winter has been long and rather boring. Seems the older I get the more I cannot stand winter.
Its raining here now so, no detecting today. My hunting bud and I have plans for this Monday to get out. It going to be around 65* so they say.
Here's hoping you far upper northerners can get out soon and find some goodies.
Mike
