Man, I've been in a slump from hell for months now. I simply could not get my coil over any keepers. I headed to a lake about 65 miles away today to see if today was the day :) We've been in drought conditions and the water levels have been down for the last 3-4 seasons. Today started off the same way, first 3 hours netted 5 coins and 2 pieces of junk jewelry. I decided to head to another spot that had produced in a big way 3 years ago. Like all good things, it came to an end so I quit going back. The last time I hunted here, I was swinging the mighty Nox 800. Today, I was using the
Manticore. I'm not going to say the 800 missed these targets, it was the way I was swinging, too fast and the recovery speed I was using, too slow. This spot is extremely polluted with every kind of metal trash you can think of.

I decided to go back to the spot that produced and hit the area from a different direction and with a faster recovery speed and a much slower swing. I started getting some iffy one way hits and with the Minelab wiggle, the audio was sounding better and the VDI's were stabilizing . I was beginning to get some coins and finally hit my first silver coin, a 56 Rosie. Next keeper was a SLQ, never expected that lol. I continued hitting coins and stuff when I got another high tone around 80 or 82, out comes the class ring. I was surprised by it because my tone break was set above where the ring actually hit when out of the hole at 64???? Not sure how that happened.

I hunted until I found the Merc and another SLQ and decided to make the 11/2 hr trip home. Today's hunt was exactly what the doctor ordered and helped refuel my enthusiam. Thanks for looking.
