I just about have my next trip lined out. Supposed to be in the high 80's starting next week - going for 3 days Monday with a friend along an old RR line up north. Got about 24 GPS places to check out. Got the maps printed, got the numbers in the GPS - we're all set. With the internet, my Topo USA map cd set and the GPS a person cannot go wrong. I'm finding lots of places on the disk that pinpoint the old railroad stations. And these are long gone old towns, villiages, settlements, etc that are hard to find on maps anymore.
If you have never used a map cd - you can put the crosshairs on the site and it automatically reads the GPS numbers for you. It's really an X marks the spot deal.
I have always had the best luck by researching places that are not in books for all the detecting world to see. I'll take lots of pics and give a full report
