Long time lurker first time poster. Usually post on an Ohio forum but I'm moving to Tennessee soon so thought I'd join Find Mall.
So the sun came out yesterday afternoon and I just couldn't resist getting a hunt in. I decided to rehunt the field where I recently found my flying eagle. There was still plenty of snow on the ground and with the sun out things got real muddy, what a mess. Was having lots of luck finding buttons but no luck finding any old coins. Finally at dusk just before heading home I got a 11-46(47) signal which I just had to dig. It took me a while to find the target because at this point it was pretty dark I could barely see. I knew I had a coin about the size of a quarter but I had to wait till I got home to see what it was. I thought it could be something good as I had found the flying eagle close by but thought it may just be a clad quarter that the farmer dropped. Well when I got home and got it under some water I immediately saw that I had an 1850 half cent! I was pretty excited and as our buddy halfcent would say LIVE THE DREAM! My coin book (the red book) says there were only 39,812 minted in 1850. So I guess you could say that I was literally as happy as a pig in the mud.
I noticed one of the small flat buttons I found has the Star of David on it, kinda neat.
