Field Tested the F5 at a colonial site:thumbup:

The F5 did a fine job hunting in the iron trash loaded with hot rocks. I felt the detector responded better then my F70. Super fast target response . I hunt in the disc. mode but use zero disc. I use two tones when relic hunting. Hot rocks will not drive you crazy with that quick high pitch. One thing I noticed when you remove a target and it is still in the plug. Break the plug up to find the target. You will get a low tone iron reading sometimes unless you do this. I love the controls and giant viewing area. A big surprise was the way the concentric coil handled the site. No complaints.

Good report. What gain/threshold settings worked best for you in iron trash?

We got a ton of rain and I turned on my F75 and in the air it was chattering like a crazy machine. So I got out the F5 and it was a lot nicer. I found an old button with a bit of gold and a fork from 1847 it had the date stamped on the back. If the F5 had a smaller DD coil it may be the only way to hunt after the rain.

Folks are using the Bounty Hunter 4 inch gold nugget coil.

dont you lose depth with the smaller coil though? and is this the same coil kellyco list as a magnum power 4 inch coil?

You do lose depth but you use the coil in high trash areas to separate targets. The small coil has its place. The recovery speed is very fast with the F5 and the stock coil gets the job done in trashy areas. Not sure what Kellyco markets. I picked my coil up using Amazon.com best price. 28.00 bucks shipped. Best regards.
