After a few rainy and muddy hunts, it was time to disassemble everything and begin a sort of cleaning process. Didn't want mud to get inside the camlocks and was surprised to see very little inside of the shaft after getting everything broken down for cleaning. The build quality if this upper shaft is nothing short of amazing - the simplicity, durability, and materials selected make for one of the most service-friendly detectors available!
It seems the armcuff and pistol-grip screws are stainless steel and showed no signs of rust. The cam pins are also stainless steel. They were both a bit stubborn to remove, but reassembly proved to be a much easier task. The design of the upper shaft prevents 99% of dirt from getting inside the shaft and boogering up the sliding action. I was able to force a paper towel down the bore of the shaft, which pulled out what little dirt was there. Now everything works like new and am ready to get out there again as soon as the weather and time off decide to cooperate!
Yes, I was bored last night...what's your point
