Field Hunting

Nancy-IL

Well-known member
We did a little field hunting today and my goodness, I think we've aged since last year's field hunting. My feet are killing me. I didn't find much but I sure had a great time. I love the square nails. Haven't looked at the shotgun shell yet to see who made it. The big rusted ring was a bit too big for my finger. Hope others had a good day today. We don't have many more good days to hunt.

Just getting the junk out of Larry's way?

I'll help as much as I can. :pinnochio NOT!

Now that the Blackhawks and the Cubs both won tonight.........:beers:, I have some time to post my finds...... Plus the large ring that Nancy found (left side) but forgot to include it in her pictures.

The only coin found today was a 1917 wheat but some nice finds were made including what I think is a matchlock gun barrel, it could be a flintlock but I will know more about it when I get a gun dealers opinion on what it is. Above the barrel is an old two piece dome button, no markings. At the ends of the barrel are two automotive items I believe, I have more research to do.....

Fun day and it looks like another nice day to go hunting again tomorrow.

I like the gun barrel. That's why field hunting of old home sites is so much fun, you never know what you might find.
