Fied test on the AT pro????????

Sure would be nice to have an idea how this baby works and what kind of depth to expect...Not looking for an advertisement or company test but one done by an independent not associated with Garrett...Could be the best middle priced unit on the planet or ???...

I think the best middle priced unit on the planet right now is the Omega 8000 (with 11"DD) from Teknetics. I own one and sold my T2, which cost much more, as the Omega did better on coins. It costs around 700 bucks with three coils.

I'll say this Garrett. You got my attention. I already have a Garrett Pro Pointer and love it and from what I've read about the AT Pro I am excited to hear more. To have a detector in that price range do what it does and be waterproof! I don't care about taking it under water (yet) but to not have to use a damn difficult to see through, and often fogging up weather cover, has my attention! The small size of the main box also looks great. I am not into the big fancy units with too many features and it seems that technology might make those units not as popular anyway, as you can do a lot behind the scenes and make things simple yet powerful for the user. (as is my current detector).

Can't wait to see the reviews.

As far as I can see without the waterproof headphones is it....also one wonders about the ergonomics not much weight in the back with box in middle and large coil...Time will tell and hope I eat my words as again Garrett builds super detectors (just thinking out loud) not being sarcastic....personally all for independent testing before they hit the bricks and certainly hope I am wrong as
might be on my Xmas list....

Yeah I'm a field tester and I can't wait to try that puppy on. I think it's going to be a real sizzler and all the goodies most of us ever wanted wrapped up in one neat package. What more could a feller ask for.

A hot chick who'd like to hold my... metal detector and.. errm.. swing it. Now I really AM dreaming. It would be nice to see some more video footage. The big question for me is it's sensitivity in zero disc., Pro mode to gold.. while dealing with bad ground. ..Willy.

Yep Willy I am also into prospecting and am curious being a disc detector how the AT-Pro's PRO Mode will do compared to and All Metal Mode. Its has to have some beginning pre-set disc I would think, which MIGHT cut out some smaller picker type nuggy's compared to the Scorpion all metal for example. But I cant wait to test it out on my quite large collection of nuggets to choose from to test it.

I dunno, there are quite a few detectors out there that have zero disc. in disc. mode (full acceptance). Take the MXT, for example; very little difference in sensitivity between disc. and AM. Thing is, when you're hunting in the water, do you want to be chasing 1/3 grain specks of gold all over the place? On land yes.. neck deep in a river/stream? The first thing is being able to cope with the ground/hotrocks effectively, then start jacking up the sensitivity. I've hunted gold in quite a few areas where the general purpose detectors outdid the specialty machines just because they weren't as sensitive. ..Willy.
