few nickels and dimes wheat penny

[attachment 108708 DSCF3900.JPG] Started off with 10 ex dd found wheat 57 then i switch to 6''dd ex coil lot of trash then hit the nickel 1948 less than an 1'' down hard to believe it was sitting there all this time. The small thing on penny down 4 inches rang as dime fooler.That what i did today after raking leaves and clean gutters,About 50 degrees today slight rain earlier. Thanks for looking

You're doing great with the coil and I will say it again, "I love to see the nickels". Do you save all your clad finds and then at the end of the year turn them in to the bank? That's what we do and then use it for freebie get-a-ways, vacations, etc. Might have to use it for dog food since our puppy is eating and growing so much. Thanks for sharing and HH to all, Nancy

I noticed that some of your coins are very deteriorated on the edges,i get a lot of pennies like that.Do you know what causes that.

Acids in the soil will break down the edges of a coin. Leafs and pine needles will raise the acid levels in soil, also some fertilizers will raise acid levels. And then you have the fossil fuel pollutants in the air which creates acid rain that does not help. Copper pennies are more acceptable to the mild acidic soils then other coins.

These pennies where found under a pine tree.
