Hi all, managed a few hours yesterday afternoon at the inn site, not really close to where the inn stood, but out in the adjacent paddock in the middle of nowhere. I was still digging bits of lead and shotgun cartridge bases so I followed them out. In a radious of about 3 feet turned up a George 1V penny, 1857 Robert Hyde Peace and Plenty one penny token and a 1908 halfpenny. The halfpenny is a bit of a puzzle, there's no trash of that era and no other coins later than the 1860's. Hopped over the fence into the crop which has been eaten down fairly well and turned up an 1841 sixpence. Thanks for looking....Ken

Wow, very nice Ken, you can add that to your list of finds for the year! I'm getting pretty excited as I just found out through a bit of research that the pub site I've been working on, well, the area has been holding out on me. I discovered that there used to be an old homestead in the vicinity, and at least one other cottage, all very spaced out from each other, but I know pretty much where it is. So now I'm anxious to get out there with the camera, take a few snapshots, and start running the detector. So, hoping to find more coins. I really miss digging the old pennies. I haven't found many of late, when going oout. Just mostly buttons.
