Few Hunts

Learning more each time out with the new machine. Have been use to digging iffy signals with the Etrac and occaisionally coming up with a coin, but not with this machine. All iffy's have tuned out to be rusty nails, and the higher the sens the more iffy's show up. Today I hunted a small park that Darrelld has really cleaned out but managed to get 1 wheatie, 1 injun and the merc. After I got home I went to the test bed and tried different sens settings and have come to believe 20 to 22 is the most reliable in this ground. If it rains as forcast this weekend I'll get to give it a good workout at a virgin yard I have lined up.

Some nice coins there. Congrats on the new machine as well. Nice job testing your ground for optimal sensitivity. Is your ground very mineralized and what is the deepest you have found a coin with any machine there? (Trying to understand my somewhat iron mineralized ground better).

Yeah, the CTX does a better job of processing those signals than the E-Trac. I have dug a few coins that sounded iffy but all but one (a button actually) were deep. I still dig some rusty nails, especially after a rain, but it's all a part of learning the machine. The more you dig the more you learn (if you are paying attention ;) )

I agree, iffy signals are mostly junk with the CTX. Helps us save a lot of time by passing them by.

Congrats on the finds from a "hunted out" spot!
