Few coins tonight...need ID

An empty lot down the street (I have hunted in the past with minimal results), has had 4 inches of dirt scraped off. The scraped area is only 25x40 or so, but I managed to find a few coins. A 1939 Wheat, 1940 silver dime, and my first old Chinese coin. Even with the 4 inches scraped off, this sucker was another 6 inches deeper. Anybody know how to date these coins?

Thanks, HH!

Nice finds, JC! I have a few old Chinese coins - If you Google "dating chinese coins", there are some sites that will help you ID & date it. Here's one: http://www.sportstune.com/chinese/beginners/2charac3.html

Good luck and thanks for posting your finds!

Great finds! The AT Pro is a great machine! I am finding coins in areas that I thought I had cleaned out! HH..C-Dog

[size=large]if you're serious about dating these coins i'd start by bringing them flowers and asking them out for lunch.

Haha, smarty pants!

I did get a positive ID...Qing Dynasty, minted between 1736 and 1795!!! I never in a million years thought I'd find a coin that old here in Saskatchewan! I found the coin not far from the railroad tracks, and also where the Chinese laundry was 100 years ago..

Probably some RR worked got messed up on opium and lost it. LOL Never could figure out how a Chinese dictionary works.
